Strip-Cut Shredders
Strip-cut shredders are known as “strip-cut shredders” because of the thin strips they create as they shred paper. These strips can vary in size from 12mm wide to 2mm wide. Strip-cut shredders require less cutting than cross-cut shredders. Because less cutting is required, strip-cut shredders are able to shred more documents at a time than cross-cut shredders (of the same class).
Cross-Cut Shredders
Cross-cut shredders create crisscross cut pieces of paper. These crisscross cut pieces of paper vary in size from 10mm x 80mm to 0.8mm x 12mm. Cross-cut shredders are not able to shred documents as quickly as strip-cut shredders (of the same class) due to the extra cutting involved. Although they can't shred documents as quickly, cross-cut shredders are able to provide more security to shredded documents than a strip-cut shredder. The shredder by-product has less volume, thus requires less emptying and trips to the dustbin.
Security Level Shred Size Uses
1 9.5 mm strip cut For shredding general internal documents.
2 6 mm and 3.9 mm strip cut For internal documents such as notes, invoices, printouts, photo-copies and much more

3.9 x 40 mm,
3.9 x 30 mm,
3 x 35 mm and
2 x 28mm cross cut

For confidential documents, such as company internal documents, personal data, etc.
4 2 x 15mm cross cut For secret documents, such as documents and files relevant to the safeguarding of personal livelihood or a company's existence.

Why Shred?

Your identity could be at risk from fraudsters searching through your household rubbish to obtain personal information.

It is one of the fastest growing areas of fraud!

To protect yourself from this threat, buy one of our great range of document shredders and destroy your confidential information before you throw it away.

Personal records such as Credit Cards, Bank Statements, Utility Bills and Confidential Correspondence, can be used by potential fraudsters to steal your identity and use it to buy goods which will then be charged to your account without you even knowing.

Security is very important for all of us and to get the right shredder security level for you simply read the security levels below to choose what you want. Level 2 would be ideal for none secure documents such as low level reports. School/college reports. Doodles etc. Levels 5 and 6 are for the very confidential documents. It's virtually impossible to put the particles back together in 1 piece. Most consumers use level 3 and for general security of household bills etc. Obviously the higher the security number the more secure your shredding.

Generally speaking: The more confidential the document, the smaller the cut needs to be. Our cutting systems stand for and guarantee optimal shred performance at every level of security. In producing our cutting cylinders, we only use specially-hardened steel - this means the cutters are able to cope with both paper clips and staples, ensuring fast and efficient handling of sensitive information.

Why Oil Your Shredder?

All Paper Shredders need shredder oil to continue to function properly. It is very common for paper dust to build up inside of the cutting assembly. After time, this sediment can become packed together like cement. Oil serves to soften this packed dust, which allows the movement of the cutting head. The proper movement of this head will push the dust out of the paper shredder. The finer the cut the paper shredder makes, the more oil it will need. Small particle cut shredders and high security specification machines require a lot of oil.

Paper shredders, as with all electromechanical equipment, will not operate efficiently unless they are properly maintained. Periodic oiling is necessary to allow the shredder to operate at maximum efficiency. Frequency of oiling will vary greatly with the volume of use and the shred size. A shredder with a 5.8mm shred width used only 1 to 2 hours per week will only require a weekly oiling. A crosscut shredder, however, should be oiled every 1/2 hour of shredding time.

The procedure for oiling a shredding machine is very simple and can be done by any operator. The oil is either packaged in a squeeze bottle or in pre-impregnated sheets. Oil from a squeeze bottle can be applied directly onto the cutting head in a fine stream. This is done through the paper entry throat. Take 1-2 seconds to oil from one side of the opening to the other. Turn the machine in reverse for about 10-15 seconds to allow the oil to transfer to all parts of the cutting head. The final step is to shred a few sheets of paper to remove any excess oil.

Alternatively, impregnated shredder oil sheets can be shredded like an ordinary sheet of paper to apply the oil.

ome shredders come equipped with an oil reservoir and apply the oil to the cutters automatically as it is needed. This reservoir should be topped up as and when necessary from a squeeze bottle.

Shredder oil is the only lubricant which should be used on your shredder. Shredder oil is of special formulation which leaves no residue on the cutters. Other oils will attract paper dust and in turn clog the cutting head.
